If your lights come on or go off a few minutes earlier or later each day, or drift over the course of the year, your zone is almost certainly running on the Astro Time Clock. That setting ties the schedule to local sunrise and sunset instead of to fixed clock times. Nothing is broken. The schedule is following the sun.
Here is a real exterior lighting schedule over a single week:
| Day | Lights off | Lights on |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday | 6:50 AM | 6:35 PM |
| Monday | 6:50 AM | 6:35 PM |
| Tuesday | 6:50 AM | 6:35 PM |
| Wednesday | 6:55 AM | 6:35 PM |
| Thursday | 6:55 AM | 6:30 PM |
| Friday | 6:55 AM | 6:30 PM |
| Saturday | 6:55 AM | 6:30 PM |
Five minutes of drift in a single week, and it keeps moving as the seasons change.
Symptoms this explains
- Lights turn off a few minutes earlier or later than expected
- Exterior lights come on before it gets dark, or stay on after sunrise
- The schedule looked right a few months ago and looks wrong now
- Interior lights stay on all day
How to check
- Log into retail.eviewiot.com or open the eViewIoT app.
- Click the Schedule icon in the top right.
- Find the zone and click the arrow on the right to expand it.
- Look at the on and off times across all seven days. If they differ from day to day, the zone is running on the Astro Time Clock.
What to do about it
- Exterior lighting and signage. Astro is usually correct here. If the timing is off by more than a few minutes, the offsets need adjusting rather than the feature being turned off.
- Interior lighting. Interior zones normally should not run on Astro. If an interior zone is drifting with the sun, that is a configuration error. Contact support.
Changing Astro settings and offsets requires Manager access or above. If you do not see an option to edit the schedule, your account may not have permission to make that change.
